Davis-Standard: It’s showtime for extrusion, converting technology at K 2019

A cross section of extrusion and converting technology will be featured in the Davis-Standard (Pawcatuck, CT) booth at this year’s K show in Düsseldorf, Germany. The company also will be highlighting its efforts in support of a circular economy, and marking the second anniversary of its acquisition of Maillefer. In addition to demos of its real-time predictive maintenance and blown film systems, Davis-Standard will feature the following in booth A 43 in hall 16.

Davis-Standard crosshead
The Model 3000A crosshead reduces scrap and allows faster start-up times, according to Davis-Standard.

Medical-grade silicone tubes, wound drains and catheters as well as elastomer capabilities for manufacturing hydraulic and automotive hoses and automotive seals will be on display. The Model 3000A crosshead is an example of this technology, reducing scrap and allowing faster start-up times. The crosshead offers preferred features such as a tapered mandrel and engineered flow paths to ensure consistent flow through all speed ranges. Wall thickness can be adjusted without process interruption.

The new Series 510A extrusion die will show the advantages of a short lip design and edge bead reduction functionality. The die features an exchangeable lip optimized for specific resin types; a motorized internal and external deckling system for safe operation; an internal die channel for optimal melt flow and deckling adjustment; and an internal rod for edge bead reduction and leakage-free operation.

Maillefer’s Bluebox Industry 4.0 data strategy is developed for high-speed acquisition and storage from all levels. To illustrate the workings of a smart factory, data from different exhibits including the stand itself will be correlated on informative dashboards. The real-time exhibit provides visitors with insight on how Industry 4.0 can apply to their particular manufacturing environments.
