New extrusion software enables rapid screw and barrel layout design

Extrusion technology company Entek (Lebanon, OR) recently introduced a software program that allows customers to quickly and easily design screw and barrel layouts for its co-rotating twin-screw extruders.
The software includes several built-in features designed to provide users with the ability to specify, and provide a drawing of, exactly what they need for their applications, according to the company. Among the features:
Drag and drop functionality on all components, including barrel sections, screws, metallurgy and more that customers need to specify;
automatic calculation of remaining space on screw shafts;
safeguards to prevent putting certain elements where they do not belong;
easier part ordering, as complete part numbers are furnished within the program;
and easy save within the program or export to an Excel file once design is complete.

Entek manufactures turnkey production extrusion systems, twin-screw extruders and components for natural fiber-plastic composites, pelletizing, custom compounding, specialty sheet lines, food and medical applications.
