Battenfeld-Cincinnati changes hands yet again

Battenfeld-Cincinnati group announced in a statement today that it has been bought by European investment group Industrie Holding Nimbus buying the plastics equipment maker.  The announcement said that the takeover will strengthen Battenfeld-Cincinnati’s equity capital and provide new resources, but otherwise provided little in the way of tangible information. No details about the purchase price were disclosed.

Nimbus, which styles itself as a “hands-on investor” with offices in Zeist (the Netherlands) and Munich (Germany), controls a portfolio of European companies that generates an annual turnover of over one billion euros. As Ed van Dijk, a partner at Nimbus explained: “Nimbus invests in companies that have a healthy core. At Battenfeld-Cincinnati this core is the technical know-how and the quality of the team – whether we are in Europe, Asia or America.”

Gerold Schley, CEO of the Battenfeld-Cincinnati group said he was delighted to have a new investor in Nimbus that will “actively support and advance the new developments and growth plans of the Battenfeld-Cincinnati  group”.

“After our successful organizational restructuring in the middle of last year, we can now focus on further product developments and investments that will strengthen and expand our market leadership with Nimbus’ support,“ he said.

A focus which has already borne fruit: the company will be exhibiting at the K show in Dusseldorf in October of this year (Hall 16, booth B19), where a number of new developments in the area of pipe, profile and thermoforming sheet extrusion will be presented.

The Battenfeld-Cincinnati group is a leading manufacturer of energy-efficient, high-performance extruders and turnkey extrusion lines to customers’ specifications. The Group was acquired by Triton Fund II in April 2007 as two separate businesses from SMS Group, Under Triton’s ownership, the two companies were merged into one, with joint management teams and structures, and combined product portfolios. The Battenfeld-Cincinnati brand was launched in 2010 and headquartered in Bad Oeynhausen, Germany. Triton sold the company a mere six months ago, in December 2015 to Germany-based Zweite VR Trust Beteiligungs UG.
