Davis-Standard to run tapered tubing line at MD&M West

Extrusion and converting technology company Davis-Standard (Pawcatuck, CT) will feature live demonstrations of its tight-tolerance medical tubing capabilities at MD&M West in Anaheim, CA. The largest medical manufacturing event in the United States, MD&M West is co-located with PLASTEC West at the Anaheim Convention Center from Feb. 9 to 11, 2016.

Davis-StandardThe line running at booth 2346 will be making urethane double-D tapered tubing used in pediatric dialysis applications. The system also will feature Davis-Standard's signature MEDD (Medical Extruder Direct Drive) extruder, which uses direct-drive technology to achieve more efficient operation and greater materials flexibility. The system includes a replaceable feed section liner, interchangeable barrel assembly and Windows-based programmable logic controller.

Medical tubing continues to be an area of significant growth for Davis-Standard, says the company. To support customer profitability, it has installed a medical lab line in a cleanroom environment at its Technical Center in Pawcatuck. This line features two MEDD extruders and associated downstream equipment located in a climate-controlled cleanroom environment. Customers are able to test new resins, make parts for proof of concept, and conduct downstream R&D prior to making large capital equipment investments. The line incorporates Davis-Standard's patented alternate polymer technology with all components monitored and controlled by the EPIC III control system.

Davis-Standard will join hundreds of suppliers of manufacturing equipment and services at the co-located MD&M West and PLASTEC West events coming to Anaheim, CA, from Feb. 9 to 11, 2016.
