Davis-Standard LLC (Pawcatuck, CT) will showcase a cross-section of its extrusion and converting technologies in booth W5947 at NPE2018. Along with equipment developments, Davis-Standard will highlight its expanded capabilities as a result of the addition of Maillefer International Oy, which was announced on Sept. 18, 2017. The company also acquired Gloucester Engineering Company, a leader in blown film, in September 2015.
NPE2018 marks the first time that Davis-Standard will showcase the technologies and capabilities of all three companies. “NPE is always an exciting event in terms of industry trends, new product demonstrations, machinery and technology developments,” said Jim Murphy, David-Standard President and CEO. “Davis-Standard has significantly expanded in terms of global reach and product offerings since the last NPE. This year is poised to be strong for capital equipment investment and we look forward to a productive show.”

Some of the highlights at NPE2018 will include the company’s aftermarket capabilities, including global field services; feed screws; spare parts; and rebuilds for controls, gearboxes and extruders.
A high-speed line running TPE tubing will feature Industrial Internet of Things and Industry 4.0 capabilities. In particular, the system provides real-time data to help operators and managers optimize line operation and avoid unplanned downtime.
Also featured at NPE2018 will be two HPE extruder rebuilds to demonstrate how replacing the extruder barrel, feed section, feed screw and/or breaker plate can improve extruder efficiency. A new spiral feed-screw design will be shown; the device is engineered for groove feed applications and offers advantages such as high regrind levels, pressure stability, compatibility with a wide range of polymers, low pressure and energy efficiency.
Visitors will be able to learn more about Davis-Standard’s recently completed in-house machining center for blown film dies (pictured). It is also home to innovative designs that deliver high outputs and reliable gauge control.
