Plastics Extrusion Machinery (PEM) LLC, a manufacturer of downstream extrusion equipment for PVC piping and custom profiles, will host a ribbon-cutting and grand opening on Oct. 7 to celebrate completion of its new manufacturing facility and corporate headquarters in McPherson, KS. The ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at the new building located at 2475 Northview Road. Immediately following the ribbon cutting, PEM will open the facility for tours. Guests can view the administrative space and sign up for a tour of the production area.

PEM owner and CEO Nathan Spearman will speak, along with representatives from Hutton Construction, the general contractor on the project, and local leaders.

This new building consolidates operations from PEM’s former facility in McPherson as well as its plant in Tumwater, WA, which was closed earlier this year. “When our lease ran out in Washington, it just made sense to move our operations to Kansas,” said Spearman. “The new space increases our production and administrative capacity by 87,000 square feet, which easily accommodates operations from Tumwater and McPherson and leaves room for future growth.” The site also has additional land available for future expansion.

Since Spearman purchased PEM in 2017, the company has grown significantly, purchasing competing company Advance Equipment Co. in 2018 and expanding its manufacturing footprint to include a second facility in Tumwater. In addition, Spearman purchased the business technology of Costa Rican company BellTech, also in 2018.

The new space was designed with employee comfort in mind, including a large break room and additional meeting spaces. “I’m so excited for this next phase of PEM, as we have more room to expand our workforce and increase our production speeds. There are exciting things on the horizon for PEM,” said Spearman.

PEM specializes in pipe belling machines, pipe and profile pullers, utility and travel saws, hydrostatic testing machines, pipe bundlers, and other downstream extrusion equipment.
