The Extrusion Division of the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE; Danbury, CT) has announced a three-day technical event devoted to extrusion technology in Nashville on May 12 to 14, 2020. The SPE Shape Extrusion Topcon 2020 will feature more than 20 presentations led by experts from industry and academe and members of the SPE Extrusion Board of Directors. An exhibitor display is also scheduled.
The first day begins at 1 PM with presentations focused on extrusion fundamentals, including rheology in polymer processing, single- and twin-screw extruder technology, blown and cast film die design, and tube and profile processing.
On May 13 and 14, topics include screw design techniques to minimize gel formation, applying simulation to troubleshooting, selecting a blending and material handling system, and optimizing PVC profile extrusions.
