Thermal blanket for extrusion systems

A newly developed thermal blanket for extrusion systems saves energy, retains radiant heat, and boosts worker safety, according to Shannon Global Energy Solutions, a designer and manufacturer of reusable thermal and acoustic insulation products. Part of the Insultech product line, the model MT850SSi thermal blanket fits all styles of extruders, barrels, and heads as well as injection- and blow-molding equipment.

The thermal blanket features trouble-free removal and installation, allowing maintenance workers and equipment operators to easily adjust or service plastics-making machinery. Shannon’s latest Insultech design creates a thermal barrier and doubles as a safety feature for employees, while achieving thermal efficiency with a maximum thermal capacity of 850˚F (455˚C).

All of Shannon’s reusable thermal insulation blankets come with an identification tag to describe the location and component to which each blanket belongs. Shannon also includes a hot surface label to warn operators of high temperature. Blanket production drawings are stored on a CAD drawing system, so customers can reorder blankets or request replacement parts for up to 10 years.
