Despite the pandemic — and in some respects because of it — business is booming at US Extruders Inc. The maker of extrusion equipment and accessories recently completed an expansion that nearly doubles its manufacturing footprint.

The company, which manufactures custom single-screw extruders, extrusion systems, and screws for plastic, rubber, and silicone, has experienced unprecedented growth, projected to be more than 25 to 30% compared with last year.

The company now occupies just over 31,000 square feet at its facility, which runs 100% on solar power. The expansion includes overhead cranes allowing for easier and more efficient extruder assembly.

Deemed an essential business, US Extruders has been working at full capacity during the COVID-19 pandemic. Cloud-based server and collaboration tools have allowed remote working, and digital communication platforms have enabled virtual meetings, wet tests, and lab trials. Extruders continue to be shipped on time, or even early in some instances, according to the company, and have included equipment that directly serves the needs of PPE and essential industries.

“We see our growth directly tied to our commitment to providing the best extruder technology and equipment backed by unmatched customer support,” said Bill Kramer, President. “This expansion allows us the capacity to take on the continued growth we expect in 2021,” added Dan Schilke, Operations.

To support growth and expansion in capacity, the company is actively seeking to hire people in the sales, engineering, and assembly departments. Resumes can be sent to [email protected].

ProSystems, which supplies US Extruders with full extruder controls, shares the same facility. ProSystems also has increased its production space by almost 40% during this same expansion. “We are on pace for a record sales year in 2020, with 2021 forecast to be even better,” said Steve Pinelli, Vice President, Sales & Marketing. ProSystems also is hiring, and is specifically looking for electrical engineers to join its team. Resumes can be sent to [email protected].

By its very name, US Extruders reflects the company’s focus on the North American market and its made-in-America quality and commitment, said the company. It uses US-made components throughout the extruder assembly.

US Extruders maintains an extensive customer support structure and extruder repair and restoration services. The laboratory facility is equipped for screw design demonstrations, lab trials, and complete extruder wet tests.

US Extruders serves the tubing, pipe, profile, reclaim, film, sheet, medical, wire and cable, and compounding industries by producing extruders ranging from 0.5- to 8-in. barrel diameters.
