Fiber Optic Sensor Sets Up With Press Of A Button

pn28-0300.jpgBalluff's BOS 20K fiber optic sensor has teach-in capability and is said to eliminate adjustment hassles for quick and accurate set-up. Unit has a 60 x 30 x 13 mm housing and is designed for small parts detection, part feature checks, counting and part positioning for handling, assembly and robotics applications.

Set-up is simple. Once the part to be detected is brought into position, sensor setting is locked with a push of the 'set' button. Sensitivity can be manually fine-tuned with '+' or '-' buttons and then locked with a disable function to prevent tampering or accidental adjustment.

Four display elements indicate sensor output, time delay, stability and key lockout condition. Light-on/dark-on capability, external teach inputs, visible red emission and settable switching delay to 5 sec are other features.

Unit is powered by 10-30 v dc and is programmable for PNP or NPN operation. It also has short-circuit and reverse-polarity protection. The sensor is CAE-rated and sealed to IP65.

It is available with 2 meter cable or four-pin M8 connection and is DIN-rail or screw mountable. Special clamp bushings ensure secure fiber optic attachment.
