Film Extrusion: Taghleef builds to 290,000 tons/yr BOPP capacity

Taghleef Industries (Ti; Dubai) has installed a 8.7m wide BOPP (biaxially oriented polypropylene) film production line from Brückner Maschinenbau GmbH & Co. KG in an expansion of its subsidiary in Sohar, Oman, marking the seventh project collaboration between the two companies.

The addition will increase annual capacity by 35,000 tons for total production approaching 290,000 tons. Ti, which is part of the Al Ghurair Group (UAE), has become one of the largest BOPP film manufacturers in the world, with competitors like China’s Tian An HK Tdg. Co. Expanding beyond the production line, Brückner supplied a turnkey package including layout/engineering, piping, cabling, raw-material storage, mill roll, slit handling, storage warehouse, and recycling equipment. In addition to the U.A.E. and Oman, Ti has production facilities in Egypt , Australia, Italy, and Hungary.—[email protected]
