Electrically conductive and nonconductive grades are available, with the conductive grades providing static dissipation for chemical hoses, conveyor belts sorting refuse, or other applications. White, blue, yellow, or red pigments are available for food applications, for which the film meets food-contact regulations. UV-resistance is also a feature, and the film is said to be environmentally acceptable.
Just by using vulcanization, GUR UHMW-PE can be bonded with rubber compounds like EPDM, NMR, and SBR, without the need for adhesives. In addition to hoses, conveyor belts, and food applications, GUR offers a low resistance to stick-slip and coefficient of friction, making it a candidate for profiles in high-wear architectural and automotive applications.
