Five packaging designs worthy of recognition

While packaging is meant to protect and preserve the product it houses, it is becoming increasingly more important in today’s competitive landscape to create innovative solutions that cater to consumers rapidly evolving preferences, such as convenience and sustainability. As a result, lightweighting has become a driving force in the food and beverage packaging sector due to environmental concerns and also to lower material cost for brand owners and retailers. Another common trend that is flooding the market is biobased, compostable packages.

To recognize these innovations and to raise the bar, several industry awards take place throughout the year to honor these packaging leaders. And while most of these designs are a bunch of ‘lightweights’ in this slide show, they come out as heavyweights in the packaging awards arena.
