Force sensors measure indirect cavity pressure

Article-Force sensors measure indirect cavity pressure

Type 6411A piezoelectric force sensors are suited for precise and dynamic force measurement. In injection molding they are often used for indirect cavity pressure measurement behind an ejector pin, when direct measuring cavity pressure sensors cannot be installed due to their size.

Dimensions are problematic for force sensors and should be kept as small as possible. The connecting cable of the sensor must be separable in order to be replaced easily in case of cable damage, so that the sensor itself can still be used even if the cable was damaged.

Another aspect is the maximum temperature range to which the sensor is permanently exposed. While comparable sensors are usually limited to operation at 120°C, this new force sensor can be operated permanently at temperatures up to 200°C.
