Free online database compiles full range of 3D printing materials and machines

The rapid growth of 3D printing/additive manufacturing (AM) has made it difficult to keep track of the full range of machines and materials that are on the market. Help is on the way from Senvol, a consultancy that conducts analytics for the AM industry. The company has launched the free online Senvol Database, which allows users to search by more than 30 fields, including machine build size, material type and material tensile strength.

The database can be a useful tool for everyone from potential machine buyers, who want to see what machines are on the market, to engineers searching for materials based on specific properties. For example, a design engineer with a specific application in mind can search for nylon materials that have a flexural modulus of at least 1,800 MPa.

"It's an extremely useful tool for everyone in the additive manufacturing industry," said Senvol President Zach Simkin in a prepared statement. "There has been a growing need for a tool like this, and we're pleased to provide the industry with a solution."
