LG Hausys plans to apply its expertise for decorative films employed in the home appliance industry to the auto sector.

Through this partnership, Faurecia Interior Systems will expand its product and technology offerings to include decoration films, enabling it to cover a broad range of interior decoration solutions, including paint, real metal, fibers, wood and finally films. This partnership is aimed at offering to automakers the highest perceived quality complete portfolio of film decoration products and processes.

The alliance will focus on:

  • Joint creation work on decorative film patterns, largely inspired by Collections by Faurecia, recently presented at the 2011 Frankfurt and Los Angeles Auto Shows. Faurecia's state-of-the-art design studios will provide the creative interface with OEM designer teams;

  • Joint development work on new decorative technologies and applications using both Groups' respective expertise.

"Faurecia is aiming at further reinforcing its worldwide leadership in vehicle interiors. With this agreement, Faurecia is clearly taking the leadership in interior decoration solutions for the broadest range of applications in vehicle interiors, where personalization is the keyword," says Yann Delabrière, Chairman and CEO of Faurecia.

"Through this partnership with Faurecia, LG Hausys will target the global automotive parts market, which we expect to stimulate," says Myung-Ho Han, CEO of LG Hausys. The Korean company is active in the auto sector through supply of TPO and PU skin materials, long fiber-reinforced thermoplastics manufactured via direct compounding, plastic air intake manifolds, cylinder head covers and oil sumps, and air filters.-[email protected]
