Separate gas-assist programs can be operated on different injection molding machines simultaneously with a new nitrogen control unit. The NCU-V2 regulates individual pressure profiles to multiple gas-injection outlets and displays real-time process pressure curves and histograms on a 10.4-inch color touch-screen control. The closed loop unit manipulates the time, pressure, and ramp profile of regulators to manage nitrogen gas injection. The NCU-V2 can be mounted on wheels or with a top- or bottom-attached swing arm. The touch-screen interface provides multiple control and process monitoring options. Molders can use the control screen to access all programmable functions including a five-step profile per gas outlet, delay start, automatic purge cycle, and digital outputs. The profiles can be saved for later use internally or downloaded to a laptop or server via a nine-pin serial port. Through the screen, users can also access pop-up help pages, individual output pressure gauges, inlet pressure meters, and safety interface confirmation. The connector allows cycle start, remote cycle kill, safety interlocks, channel enable, and digital outputs. The NCU-V2?s 24-pin connector can be used with virtually any injection molding machine.
