will sponsor and host a beer station that will be dispensing beer from kegs made from PolyShield at the Brewers Assn. Craft Brewers Conference and BrewExpo America, April 21-24, 2009 in Boston, MA  at booth 225, and exhibiting PolyShield bottles and kegs at booths 227 and 229. This is the first time that these kegs and bottles, already established in Europe, are being shown to the North American beer brewing market; beer from craft brewer Cape Ann Brewing Company (Gloucester, MA) will be dispensed from the PolyShield kegs.

Frank Embs, new business development manager at Invista, says the material has seen more than four years of use in the European beer brewing industry. One-way kegs produced from PolyShield resin/nylon-MXD6 blends are being introduced in North America to provide brewers with a cost-effective option for packaging draught beer. The kegs, made by PET preform/bottle processor Rexam Petainer and beverage filling machinery manufacturer KHS, are said to fit into existing filling and tapping systems.

PolyShield includes an active oxygen scavenging and passive carbonation barrier. The material processes on standard preform molding and PET stretch blowmolding machinery with minor changes and some additional investment.  —[email protected]
