Polymerupdate.com is reporting that Taiwan Polypropylenes plant at the Ta-She Petrochemical Industry park in Kaohsiung, Hsien, is operating at 100%. The plant, which has a capacity of 400 kilotons/yr, runs two lines which produce homopolymers, random copolymers, and heterophasic copolymers.
In the next three to five months, expansion work at the Abadan Petrochemical Co. polyvinyl chloride (PVC) unit will be completed, according to Polymerupdate. The facility, which is located in southern Iran, will double its capacity from 60 to 120 kilotons/yr, with the expansion project started some nine months ago.
Finally, Polymerupdate is reporting that Sabic is reconsidering the planned shutdown of its 330,000 tonne/yr polypropylene (PP) plant in Gelsenkirchen, Germany. The stoppage, which is intended to last two weeks, would follow unplanned outages, which pulled the site offline in late December. A second German PP plant, with a capacity of 130,000 tonnes/yr, was also offline in December.
