New Marathon granulators are available with five cutting chamber sizes and have a throughput range of 5 to more than 450 lb/hr. Designed to replace the manufacturer?s popular FX series and two of the Premier Models, the Marathon series has several features designed to make operation and maintenance easier. Among those features are a side-entry hopper door, a bed knife adjusting system located at the front of the machine, and a cutting chamber with 30 percent wider access that makes cleanout fast and easy. Entry to the cutting chamber is accomplished through an attached ratcheting tool.

A double-walled hopper and base come standard and ensure quiet operation. Additional soundproofing is also available. A light-weight (less than 4 lb) static-resistant plastic bin makes removing regrind less strenuous. The bin can be converted for vacuum takeoff applications with a simple insert and an optional 360° spout. A TEFC motor is standard, and two illuminated start/stop switches located on either side of the machine let users access the controls regardless of the machine?s proximity to the press. Dual time-delay safety switches interlock the cutting chamber and side hopper cleanout door during operation. The granulators are available with cutting chamber sizes of 8 by 10, 8 by 14, 8 by 18, 10 by 12, and 10 by 16 inches. Pricing information on the granulators was not provided.
