Chinese company Greenpak has installed a seven-layer Evolution blown film line from Reifenhäuser Kiefel Extrusion, establishing the company as the first producer of barrier film in the greater Shanghai area. Since the line came on stream, Greenpak has been producing symmetric and asymmetric barrier films for end products in the growing food and packaging industries, especially for those who are new to this market. Greenpak enters Chinese barrier market

Despite no experience in the field, the company believes it is off to a successful start.

rte_full_IMG_2357_Greenpak-China_small.jpg"The combination of a hightech line and a supplier able to provide not only technology, but also the required technical know-how and a well established local service network was crucial for Greenpak," the company stated.

"Greenpak received a very good support during installation, commissioning and production start-up by the German manufacturer Reifenhäuser Kiefel Extrusion," said Qing (Colin) Wang, General Manager at Greenpak. "We appreciate the know-how and the fast and good service Reifenhäuser can provide by their subsidiary in Suzhou. The mixture of know-how, support and high quality technology makes the successful start for a newcomer like us possible - even in a demanding market."

The seven-layer Evolution line features up-to-date components that meet the requirements of the market. Greenpak can process a broad range of raw materials in all layers - such as all kinds of PE, ionomers, PA, EVOH, PETG, and PP. The W-P winder installed in the line allows to change between contact, center and gap winding. This makes the winder appropriate for winding also sensitive and demanding films. In order to keep initial training times of operators as short as possible, the intuitive Evolution C line control with 24" color touchscreen was installed.

"The fast development of knowledge in Greenpak as a complete newcomer in the blown film business is astonishing. We expect Greenpak to provide excellent product quality in the future," said Eberhard Wenger, area sales manager at Reifenhäuser Kiefel Extrusion.
