A new company—part distributor, part R&D specialist, and all about thermoplastic urethanes and thermoplastic elastomers—has been formed by two seasoned former BASF execs who are determined to help processors make the right choice the next time they need to buy a material. Roger Huarng and Stephane Morin, former long-term executives with the Elastollan TPU business unit of BASF Corp., this month officially opened the doors on their own business, newly formed Alliance Polymers and Services LLC (Romulus, MI).
The company plans to emphasize quick product availability and personalized customer service and is targeting those small-to-medium sized users of TPUs and elastomers who may get lost in the shuffle when dealing with larger suppliers.
Initial offerings include the sale and technical support of the Elastollan brand of TPUs and other elastomeric polymers. The company has warehouse facilities in Romulus and satellite warehouses across North America to help it meet its mission of quick supply.
Setting it apart, say alliance officials, is that it is an independent supplier of TPUs and TPEs able to help a processor or designer select the best material for an application, as opposed to, naturally, a supplier’s mission to market its own materials.
The new company will inventory a large selection of TPUs, provide expedited shipment, offer full laboratory services and provide technical support. Other elastomers are available through the firm’s alliances with suppliers of these. —[email protected]
