High-capacity sheet-extrusion system handles low-melt-strength resins

Article-High-capacity sheet-extrusion system handles low-melt-strength resins

Processing Technologies LLC announced the recent shipment of a new sheet-extrusion line capable of processing 4500+ PPH or APET sheet. The line consists of a 600 HP PTi Tridens Series Model 7000 (7 inch) extruder, and a Model J641830 (18 by 30 by 30 inch) J-Stack with individual roll drivers, motorized height adjustment, and AutoGap servo-hydraulics for computerized roll gap positioning. The benefits of the PTi J-Stack arrangement include improved handling of low-melt-strength resins while permitting an additional 25% web wrap around the chrome rolls compared with the normal wrap achieved with vertical or inclined arrangements. The system incorporates a variety of special features to meet customer requirements, including a special right-angle die arrangement for space saving consideration, a back-flushing screen changer, which enables continuous processing, and a sheet-thickness gauging system for maintaining consistent sheet thickness during production. Full operator control is provided by a Titan series integrated control system, which offers complete line orchestration, remote diagnostics, and recipe management.
