Husky plans focused plant mandates for medical and packaging division

With the integration of Schottli and Husky and the creation of a new medical and specialty packaging business unit announced in February, there will be integration of the capabilities of the two companies' specialty moldmaking facilities in Austria and the Czech Republic, aftermarket tooling services and the Hylectric machines system platform. The new focus will enable Husky to provide a more responsive approach to its customers in these markets.

"The creation of this [the medical and specialty packaging] business unit at Husky allowed us to focus our efforts and enables our global facilities to become experts in select applications, providing a more complete, targeted solution for our customers," said Steve Lawrynuik, VP of medical and specialty packaging systems at Husky.

Each facility will be targeting specific applications, and provides customers the opportunity to work with a single supplier to optimize system level performance. Within the new division, existing Schottli sites will be focused on medical molds and systems, select packaging molds and systems, and some specialty closures. Husky's sites in Austria and the Czech Republic will be focused on specialty closures. Each site will continue to place a strong emphasis on aftermarket services and tooling to ensure customers are supported through the entire lifecycle of a product, maintaining the high-quality of communication and responsiveness Husky customers expect, stated Husky.

"We are excited about the new focus that Husky is undertaking with the creation of the Medical and Specialty Packaging team and the targeted approach to application development and manufacturing," said Tomas Anderegg, president of Schottli. "Combining sales forces and sharing facility capabilities, while offering customers enhanced expertise in our target applications, means that we are continuing to prove our excellence in the industry. This is the kind of focused service we want to provide to our customers, and the continued integration of Schottli and Husky enables us to leverage each other's strengths to do just that."
