Injection molding news: Husky garners innovation award; Meusburger refines centering

Husky Injection Molding Systems (Bolton, ON, Canada) has been recognized with the Ringier 2015 Technology Innovation Award for the development of its Ultra Helix valve-gate technology and its contribution to production efficiency and cost effectiveness. The award was presented to Husky representatives on October 28, 2015, in Shanghai, China.

Fine-centering units from Meusburger are available in
sizes from 6 to 10 mm diameter.

"We are pleased that the Ultra Helix has been chosen to receive one of the industry's most prestigious awards," said Stefano Mirti, Husky's President of Hot Runners and Controllers. "China is an important and exciting market for Husky, and Ultra Helix demonstrates our commitment to developing innovative products that help to improve productivity and drive sustainability for customers not only in China, but all over the world."

When developing Ultra Helix, Husky conducted extensive research into the fundamentals of valve-gate dynamics, wear and quality. As a result, Ultra Helix can direct-gate parts with gate vestige that is nearly immeasurable, maintaining this level of quality for millions of cycles. The design of Ultra Helix has many advantages including guaranteed valve stem-to-gate-orifice concentricity, virtually eliminating mechanical wear on these components; a consistent thermal profile for improved balance performance and wide processing windows; and simplified machining for mold integration to reduce costs and shorten validation times.

The Ringier Technology Innovation Awards were presented by Ringier Trade Media Ltd.'s International Packaging News for China. The awards were launched in 2006 as a tribute to companies in key industries, such as food and beverage, packaging, plastics and metalworking. Nominees are evaluated by a panel of 10 judges against several criteria, including impact on the marketplace, inventiveness, financial results and the degree to which the innovation solves a customer need.

Meusburger introduces high-precision fine-centering unit

Meusburger Georg GmbH & Co. KG (Wolfurt, Austria), a manufacturer of precision standardized components for injection mold manufacturing, has introduced its E 1311 fine centering unit. Made of high-strength steel, the product is particularly suitable for the centering of inserts and guiding of micro molds.

Tight tolerances in the compact fine-centering unit guarantee high precision. Through the specifically located vent hole, the displaced air has a defined, controlled release. DLC-coated centering bolts ensure high wear resistance.

The E 1322 unit is available from stock in sizes from 6 to 10 mm diameter.
