Century Die Co. (Fremont, OH) was awarded the American Mold Builders Association (AMBA; Indianapolis) 2019 Tooling Trailblazer of the Year. AMBA established the award to reward the accomplishments of member companies in the area of education. Century Die was recognized for its "outstanding job shadowing” initiative, Mold Maker Professional for a Day Program.
Century Die’s program has engaged more than 300 students in grades seven through 12 over the past six years and resulted in six new hires. From participation in job fairs and mock interviews at local high schools to sponsorship of the Green Box Derby, where students compete for scholarships to Terra State Community College, Century Die works throughout the year to increase visibility of the modern manufacturing industry to hundreds of students, parents and teachers in the greater northern Ohio area.
Century Die was awarded $5,000 from Progressive Components to be given to the educational program of its choice.
AMBA calls itself the only organization dedicated to elevating the competitive advantage of U.S. mold builders, providing workforce development initiatives, networking, benchmarking opportunities and industry promotion for its members. AMBA members also receive a variety of additional benefits, including access to cost-reduction programs, visibility to mold buyers and problem-solving resources that give members a competitive advantage.
