Cleanroom friendly stainless steel mold bases delivered more quickly

Stainless steel mold bases, which can operate in clean rooms without the threat of rust or corrosion, are now available in any configuration with faster delivery times. In addition to cleanlier operation, the mold bases made with DME #7 stainless steel are said to dramatically increase the longevity of the mold.

The stainless steel mold base, which DME says are suited for food, medical and packaging applications, are available in all 43 length and width combinations by DME in its "A" or "B" series mold base programs, with cavity plates up to 2.875 inches thick. The DME #7 stainless steel is a modified AISI 400 or equivalent series stainless steel for holder block applications. It is supplied pre-heat treated to 32-36 HRC (302-340 Bhn).dme_mold_base.jpg

Plates, components and other mold base needs also are available in stainless steel where required. The mold bases are available with an average lead time of five days for features that include:

  • 3-piece housing

  • Return pins

  • Locating ring

  • Sprue bushing

  • Ejector housing cover

Optional features include:

  • Guided ejection (2 or 4 places)

  • Vented leader pins

  • Support pillars

  • Safety strap and lift holes

  • Pry bar slots

  • Press knock-outs

  • Rough cavity or core pocket; blind or through (minimum half-inch radius)

  • Add, omit or relocate return pins, assembly screws, ejector assembly screws, leader pins & bushings, center holes and stop pins
