DLC coating reportedly improves performance of mold ejector sleeves and pins

Hasco (Lüdenscheid, Germany) has introduced mold ejector sleeves and pins with a diamond-like carbon (DLC) coating and has expanded the range of its Techni Shot nozzles.

hasco-ejectors-250.jpgDLC coatings impart hardness and tribological attributes to substrates. The new coated pins and sleeves are especially suited for use in medical and food applications, according to the company, since they do not require the use of lubricants and are compatible with cleanroom environments.

The hardness and low coefficient of friction of the coated ejector sleeves in combination with the DLC-coated ejector pins will improve mold service life and boost productivity, according to Hasco. Custom versions of the sleeves and pins are available on demand.

In other company news, Hasco has added 100- and 125-mm-long nozzles to its Size 20 Techni Shot series.

Size 20 nozzles are designed for small shot weights and short cavity-to-cavity distances. A modular design ensures easy maintenance. The heating unit can be removed from the nozzle body, for example, without having to undo the gate. The thermocouples and nozzle heater also are separate units.

A front-mounted heater is available for the new nozzle lengths.

Headquartered in Germany, Hasco maintains a U.S. office in Fletcher, NC.
