Elos Medtech Microplast, part of the Elos Group, has announced that it will double capacity at its plant in Skara, Sweden. It is adding 1,500 square meters to the facility to meet growing demand for injection-moulded plastic components from customers in the medical technology sector. The expansion is expected to be completed by the end of 2015.Elos Medtech Microplast already made significant investments in 2014 in sterile rooms for assembly, packaging and production, which is largely automated. Quality systems are certified to ISO 13485.

"The increase in our market activities and a distinct business strategy combined with being part of Elos Medtech Group have aroused curiosity among our customers," said Managing Director Mathias Andersson in a prepared statement. "At the same time, Elos Medtech Microplast already has an outstanding reputation and has displayed extremely good expertise and experience in technically demanding plastics over the years, while delivering excellent quality and precision. Together with our customers, we have developed a joint plan to increase cooperation in the years ahead. This has resulted in several major projects, which will constitute a key aspect of the company's growth in the next coming years," he added.

"We are focusing 100% on medical-technology customers and, together with other companies within Elos Medtech, we will have a unique offering that enables us to provide turnkey solutions for customers in selected segments," noted Andersson.

Elos Medtech develops and manufactures precision products and components used in medical technology, such as dental and orthopedic implants and instruments. In addition to Sweden, it operates facilities in Denmark and China.
