Fakuma is coming back to Messe Friedrichshafen on Oct. 12 to 16 after our lost year, but it’s hardly a return to normal. At the time of writing, masks will be required and exhibitors and attendees will need to follow social distancing requirements. Also, the messe will follow rules established by the state of Baden-Württemberg, the most recent of which were mandated through an ordinance that took effect on Sept. 16. Needless to say, the situation is fluid. How all of this will affect attendance of foreign visitors is an open question.

But here is the good news: More than 1900 exhibitors are expected to display their wares, trumpet new products and services, and network with attendees in a live, in-person event, and that is worth celebrating.

In this show preview, we highlight some of the technologies that will be presented on the show floor. Barring any new contretemps, I intend to be at Fakuma 2021 to report on these and other developments. I hope to see you there!
