Custom molder PTA Plastics recently organized a virtual roundtable on reshoring with industry professionals from its own ranks as well as members of the Plastics Industry Association (PLASTICS). The topic has garnered newfound attention recently, as COVID-19 revealed shortages of personal protective equipment and critical medical devices caused, in part, by offshore supply chains. The result has been an uptick in reshoring, according to the Reshoring Initiative, which reported that it outpaced foreign direct investment in 2020 for the first time since 2014.
