Sensitive medical applications require repeatable, high-quality parts in a clean environment. In the case of producing caps for insulin pens, KraussMaffei will demonstrate its all-electric PX 200-1400 system.
The company says the efficiency and precision of its PX series is ideal for producing sensitive medical components. With 2,000 kN of clamping force, the PX 200-1400 features an easy-to-clean high-gloss finish and automated, enclosed central lubrication of knee lever joints to ensure an impeccably clean production environment.
But cleanliness isn’t the only virtue of the PX series, the company says. Faster plasticizing is on tap thanks to a more powerful plasticizing unit drive. A specially designed high-performance screw shortens cycle times with high melt quality; that extra speed enables 96 cavities to be filled quickly and accurately.
The PX series is also designed to save electricity, from the servo design of the hydraulic unit to the system for brake-energy recovery and Eco-Pac insulation strips on the injection unit that stabilize temperature and reduce heating time by up to 30%. An Orca mold cooling system from Junke Engineering is integrated into the MC6 machine control system, using ultrasound to measure flow velocity and quantity.
