Milacron (Cincinnati, OH) will showcase its newest machinery and technologies for the plastics processing industry in booth W2703 at NPE2018. Featured equipment will include Milacron’s injection and extrusion machinery, Mold-Masters' hot runners and control systems, DME mold components, Uniloy blowmolding machines, Kortec co-injection technologies and Milacron 4.0 IIoT solutions.
One of the big machine demonstrations will be the Milacron-Fanuc Roboshot 500—the largest tonnage Roboshot ever—running a packaging application. The new Roboshot 500 has an increased tonnage option up to 550 US tons (558 metric tonnes) and is designed for large molds with tie-bar spacing of 36.2 inches (91.94 cm). It will be molding a detergent cap with a 24-cavity mold at 6-second cycle times. The cell will also feature a Mold-Masters Master-Series valve-gated hot runner and TempMaster M2 hot runner temperature control system and DME mold components.
An automotive application will be running in Milacron’s Maxima Performance (MPs) 600wp. The molding cell featuring this machine will be molding an 825-gram, one-cavity automotive door panel map pocket with Trexel’s MuCell technology. The demo highlights automotive lightweighting along with Roctool technology providing induction heating directly to the surface of the part to achieve a Class A finish that is critical in interior automotive applications. The cell will be running with a Sepro 5-axis robot with trimmer integrated into the machine controls and DME mold components.
The Uniloy Injection Blow Molding Series (IBS) 85 with Kortec Connect co-injection will be molding a 7.5 gram, four-cavity medical tablet bottle with Kortec co-injection barrier technology in 12-second cycle times. The Kortec barrier is delivered via a Kortec hot runner and Mold-Masters EM3 E-Multi secondary injection unit. The Uniloy IBS includes a complete line of three-station injection blow systems with clamp forces from 70 to 200 U.S. tons (64 to 181 metric tonnes) available in hydraulic, hybrid or all-electric configurations.
