MW Industries picks up Tri-Star, a maker of threaded inserts for plastics

MW Industries (Rosemont, IL), a supplier of highly engineered springs, specialty fasteners, machined parts and other precision components, announced today that it has acquired Tri-Star Industries (Berlin, CT), a manufacturer of precision threaded inserts for plastics.

Established in 1991, Tri-Star manufactures a complete line of standard and custom threaded inserts and compression limiters in brass, steel, aluminum and stainless steel for plastic applications. It also produces high-volume screw machine products and CNC Swiss precision turned components. The company has machining capabilities to produce metal parts with complex designs, tight tolerances, unique features and high-quality surface finishes.

“By joining the 20 brands that make up the MW Industries family of companies, Tri-Star will be able to offer customers a broader market basket of products, both now and in the future,” said John Bagnuolo, Chief Executive Officer, MW Industries.

MW supplies parts to more than 23,000 customers in 35-plus countries. It has completed a number of acquisitions to strengthen its product offerings and customer base and is currently evaluating a strong pipeline of possible transactions, according to a press release.
