The Nozzle Leak Detector (NLD) from PCS Co. detects plastic leakage between the mold and machine nozzle on injection molding machines, preventing costly downtime and repairs.

A number of issues can cause plastic leakage at the machine nozzle, including cracked nozzle tips, misaligned nozzles, and plugged gates.

The NLD clamps directly on the machine nozzle, and is fitted with a sensor that plugs into an alarm box. When the sensor detects a leak, the NLD triggers an audible alarm and visual alarm light. Input and output receptacles allow connection to the molding machine to stop the molding cycle immediately once a leak is detected.

The alarm box operates on 120 V power, and users can adjust the temperature that will set off the alarm, which can be silenced until the leak has been fixed.

The NLDs are made in the USA and the sensors come in four sizes — 3, 6, 9, and 12 in. — to fit most injection machine nozzles.
