A new purging compound for injection molders is designed to solve challenging purging issues associated with the automotive headlamp and rear-lamp-lens manufacturing process. Ultra Purge C6090 from Chem-Trend (Howell, MI) reportedly offers customers a single purging agent that minimizes quality issues while providing a consistent, simple and efficient process.
“For customers using one machine to manufacture both headlamp and rear-lamp lenses, this product allows for one complete purging agent,” said Antje Scholl, Business Development Director—Thermoplastics. “Ultra Purge C6090 can greatly improve the quality of final products and will contribute to overall waste reduction. Plus, the need for one purging compound versus two will improve process efficiencies and upstream resources.”
This flexible solution also overcomes common industry issues associated with color change in polycarbonate (PC), or processing PC at high temperatures and switching to Poly(methyl methacrylate)(PMMA) at low temperatures, Chem-Trend explained.
Ultra Purge C6090 is a complete purge compound solution for polycarbonates and acrylics, allowing for a smooth transition between the PC processing temperature of 280° to 320°C (536° to 608°F) and PMMA of 190° to 270°C (374° to 518°F), according to Chem-Trend.
