Rod Roth, co-founder and President of R&D Plastics.

Rodney (Rod) Roth, one of the founders of R&D Plastics LLC in Hillsboro, OR, passed away on March 25 at the age of 77 after a long battle with cancer. He was at his home with his wife, Kim Alford, and close friend and business partner Sal Gonzalez by his side.

While Roth was one of the co-founders and President of R&D Plastics, he treated his employees, customers and suppliers more like family. He would always go out of his way to help anyone he could. He worked tirelessly to promote not only his company, but also the plastics industry and was very supportive of the local community, said a statement sent out by the company.

Roth was passionate about helping young people with an interest in plastics education or in the plastics industry. He helped set up and fund three different scholarships in the plastics engineering program at Western Washington University in the names of his parents and himself.

The company noted that the business Roth co-founded in 1996 will continue to move forward under an established succession plan to honor his hard work, his vision, and his legacy.

For anyone wanting to honor Roth, donations may be made to Western Washington University through the following websites: https://foundation.wwu.edu/ivyroth or https://foundation.wwu.edu/merrillroth.
