German liquid silicone rubber molding (LSR) technology specialist ACH Solution GmbH and its US branch will exhibit an automated LSR molding cell at Plastec West in Anaheim, CA, in April. At the booth, it will showcase its “one-drop cold-runner system” typically used for test inserts and prototyping.

The part it will be molding at the show is a collapsible pet bowl made from Shin-Etsu Silicone’s self-bonding KEG 2090/50 material overmolded onto an APEC 1745 polycarbonate insert.

The collapsible pet bowl is made of LSR overmolded with a polycarbonate insert.

The plastic insert is automatically placed in the mold via end-of-arm tooling (EOAT) developed by ACH Solution integrated in an Arburg Multilift robotic system. The EAOT also automatically de-molds the finished part and places it onto a conveyor. Kri-Color Silicone Dispersions provides the pigment used for the demonstration.

ACH Solution will showcase the LSR molding cell at booth 4069. Plastec West runs from April 12 to 14, 2022, at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, CA. Part of IME West, the nation’s leading annual advanced design and manufacturing event, Plastec West is co-located with Medical Design & Manufacturing (MD&M) West, WestPack, Automation Technology Expo (ATX) West, Design & Manufacturing (D&M) West, and CannPack West.
