The Plastek Group has announced that it will take delivery next month of several machines from Sodick, a well-respected supplier of electrical discharge machining (EDM) systems. Plastek said that it has acquired two wire and two sinker EDM systems, as well as an EDM drill.
The purchase of the machinery came after an extensive evaluation process involving Plastek’s toolmakers and stakeholders and their counterparts in Brazil, where Plastek operates a manufacturing facility. The company has its headquarters in Erie, PA.
The evaluation process comprised 32 key points of interest, including machine test cuts, service availability, accuracy, and long-term pricing, according to Plastek. Schaumburg, IL–based Sodick's “unparalleled reputation as a world leader in precision EDM equipment and their dedication to providing exceptional support and service solidified [the company] as the ideal partner for our expansion efforts,” said Plastek in the news release.
The addition of Sodick’s wire EDM, sinker EDM, and EDM drill will bolster productivity and enable the pursuit of new opportunities and address the ever-evolving demands of the global market, added Plastek.
