Shin-Etsu Silicones to host pre-show event at new state-of-the-art facility

Shin-Etsu Silicones of America (SESA; Akron, OH) will be holding an open-house event at its 7,020-square-foot state-of-the-art Liquid Injection Molding System (LIMS) Technical Center in Akron, Ohio, on Oct. 12 (1:00 pm – 5:00 pm), the day before the International Elastomers Conference (formerly ACS Rubber Expo) taking place in Cleveland this year on Oct. 13-15.

SESA.pngAttendees of the open-house event will be given a demonstration of SESA’s new optically clear LIMS product, X-34-1972-3, in the production of a magnifying lens. The informal event will provide guests an integrated platform to preview the new facility that recently opened under the leadership of Shin-Etsu’s LIMS Process Engineer, Craig Lustek. Participating demonstration partners include: Arburg Inc. (Rocky Hill, CT), M.R. Mold and Engineering (Brea, CA) and Graco Inc. (Minneapolis,MN).

SESA’s optically clear LIMS X-34-1972-3 material will be utilized to mold the entire magnifying glass, including its polished lens and textured handle. The new material was developed as an groundbreaking response to meet the increasing thermal requirements for High-Brightness LED optical lenses. As LEDs become brighter, their operating temperatures are rising beyond the capability of typical thermoplastics like acrylic and polycarbonate for automotive, architectural and display lighting applications.

Below is a list of the following demonstrations:

  • Arburg: 110 ton, All-electric horizontal liquid injection molding press.

  • M.R. Mold: Four cavity optical lens mold in a Royalloy stainless steel Universal Base.

  • Graco: New Fluid Automation F4-5 silicone pumping system—delivering better ratio control for mixing two-component LIMS products.

According to SESA’s North America Marketing Manager, Eric Bishop, “There is no cost to attend the open-house as it is an informal Pre-IEC event; where you can network with customers who visit and have one-on-one discussions with demonstrating LIMS partners.” Bishop also noted that SESA will be exhibiting at the International Elastomer Conference at booth #1512.
