SPI supports Manufacturing Day

The roster of Manufacturing Day 2015 sponsors grew with the addition of SPI: The Plastics Industry Trade Association, which has pledged support at the silver level, the third consecutive sponsorship year for SPI. A grassroots effort by manufacturers to improve public perception of manufacturing in America, Manufacturing Day is an annual event that has grown in support and visibility across the nation.

Mfg DayThe 2015 Manufacturing Day will be held on October 2 and features awareness-raising activities at a variety of locations across the country. While Manufacturing Day is an annual national event, participation at the local level provides awareness and information about U.S. manufacturing, its importance to the economic health of the country and the many opportunities that exist for good-paying jobs. Participating manufacturing companies host students, teachers, parents, job seekers and other local community members at open houses designed to showcase modern manufacturing technology and careers.

A panel of co-producers comprised of the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association (FMA) International, the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), the Manufacturing Institute (MI), the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Hollings Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) and guest producer Industrial Strength Marketing (ISM) provide the centralized support necessary to coordinate this nationwide array of simultaneous events. National media partners for the event are Edge Factor and the Science Channel, and the national movie partner is American Made Movie.

"The co-producing organizations appreciate the continued support of SPI, which has demonstrated its belief in the Manufacturing Day concept since inception. We are grateful for their support and the passion with which they encourage their member companies to participate and host open house events for their communities," said Ed Youdell, President and CEO of the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association. "There are so many interesting and diverse companies in this industry sector and we hope they will all participate."
