A cooperative effort between Battenfeld and Ferromatik Milacron has resulted in the new Battenfeld EM all-electric line, offering the best machine components from the two companies at a lower price than the previous EM line. A size was added on the lower end of the clamping force range, extending the line from 300 to 1800 kN.
The clamping unit is equipped with a five-point twin-toggle mechanism and the toggle joints and drive spindles are lubricated by a central grease lubrication unit. The high rigidity of the machine and the dynamics of its servomotors are said to give the EM series a high degree of repeatability. Battenfeld reports that the energy consumption in continuous operation has been reduced by at least 20% over the predecessor model. The high efficiency of the servomotors and the energy recovery in the deceleration phases are all said to reduce energy consumption by up to 50% in some applications. In addition, the oil no longer needs to be cooled.
The hydro-pneumatic drive in the nozzle unit is said to provide symmetrical force transmission with optimized mold protection. Independent amplifiers control the machine?s movements and motor power generation.
