In a testament to renewed growth in the plastics industry, especially for Europe and points east, more people, many of whom brought their checkbooks, roamed more halls and saw more exhibitors for K 2007 than K 2004. According to fair organizer Messe Düsseldorf, the 17th K fair exceeded its own expectations, registering 3130 exhibitors from 58 countries and 242,000 visitors from 100 countries over eight days. This compares to 2904 exhibitors and 231,000 visitors at K 2004.
The international flavor of the event was also stronger, with 57% of show visitors originating from outside Germany, an increase of 22,000 over 2004. Of that figure, 55% came from Europe, with the rest originating from points beyond. Asia was well represented with 30,000 attendees, 1/3 of them from India. Chinese attendance was constant with 2004 at about .7% of total attendance. North American visitors were up (8300 compared to 6900) as were attendees from Central and South America, who totaled 11,000, up from 8000 at K 2004.
From within the continent, nearly 10,000 Dutch industry professionals turned out, followed by Belgium, with increases in Italian, English, Swiss, and Turkish contingents also noted. Among exhibitors, 63% came from countries outside Germany, led by Italy (464), China (154), U.S. (145), Taiwan (132), and the U.K. (114). K 2010 will be held from Oct. 27-Nov. 3.[email protected]
