KraussMaffei told PlasticsToday that customers attending the event came from throughout China, including Beijing, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Anhui, Hubei, Hunan, Hebei, Henan, Sichuan, Zhejiang, Jilin, Fujian, and Guangdong, representing applications ranging from interiors and exteriors for automotive and commercial vehicle industries to the insulation panel and pipe industries.
Topics covered at the event included lightweighting, innovative tooling, SkinForm, which combines injection molding and a polyurethane reaction process, and CASE (coatings, adhesives, sealants, elastomers) applications for polyurethane. Visitors also saw KraussMaffei systems and equipment in operation in the site's technology showroom.
Kun Wu, sales manager Asia at KraussMaffei, called the event a success and said the company will host another one in 2011. Krauss-Maffei Plastics Machinery Co. Ltd. was established in Shanghai in 2001. On March 19, KraussMaffei, in cooperation with the Institute of Plastic Technology and Application (IPTA), opened a new technical center in southern China at Shenzhen. That site features KraussMaffei CX, CX Hybrid, and CX Multinject injection molding machines. Elsewhere in China, the Munich-based company operates the Krauss Maffei Extrusion Technology (Zhejiang) Co. Ltd. in Jiaxing City, Zhejiang province.
The Shanghai tech center includes a complete foaming plant with electric mold carrier, industrial robot, and high-pressure foaming machine, as well as fully equipped milling and scoring cells. The tech center, including pump and mixing head repair station, as well as warehouse, covers around 1000m2. —[email protected]
