One of the indelible images of American Beauty, the 1999 film directed by Sam Mendes and starring Kevin Spacey and Annette Bening, is the dancing plastic bag filmed by brooding teen Ricky (Wes Bentley) on the camcorder that is his constant companion. He sees an inner beauty in this piece of refuse blowing in the wind.

The faux film poster pictured here melds a plastic bag with the titular rose that was featured in the official poster, and makes a strikingly beautiful statement on one of the film's themes. It was created by graphic artist Stephanie Toole.
