LSR for easy multimolding

A couple of new grades of LSR from Shin-Etsu Silicones of America Inc. (Akron, OH) designated KE2090 and KE2095 are optimized for multimolding with thermoplastics, since they?re formulated to provide primer-free adhesion. The silicone itself tore before the bond broke in two-shot tests, all without use of any costly primers or substrate pretreatments.

Outstanding adhesion even in extreme high-temperature, high-humidity applications and in radical thermal cycling environments is provided, according to the company. KE2090 Series LSR goes well with PC, PBT, and PPO compounds, while KE2095 is stuck on nylon and PPA. Shin-Etsu also recently introduced a family of low-durometer (5-20 Shore A) LSRs designed to provide very good physicals and easier process control. Even with their low hardness, they?re said to provide high tear strength.?CK
