Compounder Aurora Plastics LLC announced today its merger with Enviroplas Inc., an engineering compounding business with more than 30 years of growth history. An engineered polymers business segment is being launched as a result of the merger.

“Enviroplas brings an exciting platform expansion in near-product adjacency with meaningful synergies,” said Aurora Plastics CEO Darrell Hughes. “We are excited to partner with the Enviroplas leadership team to drive continued growth.”

Jim Stratman, founder and CEO of Enviroplas, will remain a substantial shareholder and continue to lead the growth as president of Enviroplas, the engineered polymers business of Aurora Plastics, reporting to Hughes. Enviroplas’ leadership team and employee base will continue in their current roles, said the release.

The combined company offers a broad range of custom compounding capabilities and technologies, including:

  • engineered polymers (PC, PC/ABS, PC/PBT, PC/ASA, PC/SAN, PC/PET, ABS, TPU, co-polyester, co-polyester/PC, PEI, PBT, MABS, polysulfone)

  • PVC compounds (rigid PVC powder and pellet; CPVC, flexible PVC pellets; clear, opaque, and colored flexible PVC; rigid cellular PVC; PVC/acrylic alloys)

  • thermoplastic elastomers (styrene-butadiene-styrene and styrene-ethylene/butylene-styrene block co-polymers; TPO and chlorinated polyethylene alloys)

  • other specialty compounds (custom thermoplastic polyolefin, low-smoke zero-halogen compounds, flame-retardant concentrates, and purge compounds).

Aurora Plastics’ equity sponsor Nautic Partners will provide resources and capital to accelerate the growth of both the engineered compounds and vinyl specialties businesses of Aurora Plastics, said the news release.

Enviroplas was founded by Stratman in 1992 and operates out of two sites in Evansville, IN.

Aurora Plastics is headquartered in Streetsboro, OH, and has manufacturing capabilities in North Carolina, Massachusetts, Texas, and Quebec.
