Fog Software Group, an operating entity of Vela Software and Constellation Software Inc., announced it has acquired Facton, a global provider of enterprise-wide product-costing software for the manufacturing industry. Potsdam, Germany–based Facton has been developing manufacturing software for more than 20 years by combining expertise in the areas of product costing, production, supply chain, and software development.
Facton will be an independent business unit within Fog’s portfolio of smart manufacturing software companies, which is led by Shoplogix. The Facton EPC Suite is an enterprise product costing (EPC) solution used by many Fortune Global 100 manufacturers and their suppliers, addressing the needs of both executive management and individual departments. Facton EPC enables standardized, enterprise-wide costing for maximum product cost transparency throughout every phase of the product lifecycle, said the company.
Facton EPC Suite is extensively used in the automotive, aerospace, mechanical engineering, and electronics industries, said Facton. Founded in 1998, Facton has three locations in Germany — Potsdam, Dresden, and Stuttgart — and one in Detroit. The company’s international portfolio of customers includes Ford Motor Co., Henniges Automotive, DURA Automotive Systems, Airbus, Mahle Behr, and Porsche.
