The Extra 100-430 on display molded a 96g ABS party plate from an SLG Kunststoff-Fabrik & Formenbau GmbH mold. Designed as a functioning workcell, the press was also equipped with a Demag DR 330 colibri side-loading robot for part extraction. Integrated into the hazard-area enclosure and machine controller, the robot is designed to swing into the parting line, remove parts, and drop them onto a conveyor. Because of the robot?s swing-arm design and quickness, it has very fast travel speeds and faster removal times. The robot?s arm is only 50 mm wide, allowing the tool?s opening stroke to be as narrow as 60 to 70 mm. By using the hazard-area enclosure at the machine?s rear, the robot fits within the footprint of the press and is integrated into its design. The automation system featuring the DR 300 colibri robot comes as a standard product on the complete Ergotech Extra line, as well as for machines up to 280 tons in the concept and system designs from the El-Exis E Series.
Currently available only in Europe, the Demag Plastics Group has plans to introduce the Extra line in the U.S. at Chicago?s National Plastics Exhibition in June.
