Agitator Prevents Material Compaction In Feeder Hopper

0801pn-34.jpgThayer Scale's Spirolator agitator is designed to prevent material compaction in the company's volumetric and gravimetric loss-in-weight feeders. With conventional feeders it is difficult to maintain delivery of materials that cake and stick together, such as powders, interlocking particles, fibers and flakes. These materials have a tendency to densify and compact under their own weight, forming a bridge or stable arch that can interrupt material flow.

The Spirolator agitator counter-rotates at very low rpm's, gently lifting and conditioning material to prevent densification, but without damaging delicate materials or causing stratification of blends. It is also said to be ideal for use with vibratory tray feeders because it relieves the tray of the full weight of the material. Thus, tray amplitude is steady and material flow is uniform.
